SRB5

The SRB5 (Single Regeneration Budget) programme delivered investment and brought fresh hope to the villages of Bearpark, Ushaw Moor and New Brancepeth. It covered regeneration issues such as employment and training, education, community safety and social exclusion and accounted for a third of around £3m directed at the Lower Deerness Valley.

Following the success of SRB5 the City Council was fortunate in their bidding to round 6 for SRB and as such was able to offer a programme of activity and support over the 12 villages of West Rainton, Bowburn, Sherburn Hill, Quarrington Hill, Ludworth, Kelloe, Cassop, Brandon, Ushaw Moor, New Brancepeth, Esh Winning and Bearkpark.

Objective 2 Priority 4

Priority 4 is part of a European Funding programme called Objective 2 which specifically deals with community issues.

It aims to raise employment levels in Durham to the regional average by improving the job prospects of unemployed local residents and providing better access to job opportunities. Flourishing Communities Fund

The Flourishing Communities Fund is the primary mechanism for investment in both City Council and community aspirations in the future. This fund allows bids from local communities within the district to reallocate resources to support local community projects, capacity building and engagement projects. The Community Development team is the link for groups wishing to access this fund and helps support them through the application process. The fund will match fund or contribute to projects but it is last gap funding so applicants will be encouraged to exhaust all other options before applying to this fund.
