The Community Consultation
Durham City Council is committed to listening to, and acting upon, the views of the local community and its service users. The term 'community consultation' covers the range of activities that the Council employs to support the involvement of residents, service users and non users, and businesses in decision making processes, shaping and informing the way services are delivered and working with the Council to improve their communities. Durham City Council is committed to listening to, and acting upon, the views of the local community and is currently drafting a Community Consultation Framework to ensure that consultation activity:
- is effectively co-ordinated across the Council and with partner agencies
- impacts on service delivery; is delivered to a high standard and meets the expectations of the Government particularly in relation to Best Value
This section of the website was designed to provide an explanation of the Councils approach to consultation and will be subject to continual review and development.
From this area you will also be able to:
- find out about consultation exercises taking place in your area and view the results
- view the results of satisfaction surveys carried out by service departments
- comment on aspects of the service we provide
There are opportunities for residents of Durham to become more formally involved in the democratic process by attending Area Forums and Council Committee meetings.
