Lottery Funds
Big Lottery Fund Funding Programmes - uses Lottery funding to help make big, positive changes for communities. Whether we are providing smaller grants for local groups or funding big, national 'transformational' projects, we want to regenerate and revitalise communities, with a particular emphasis on tackling disadvantage.
Heritage / Sport / Arts Funding (from Sport England - Arts Council)
Heritage Lottery Fund - The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) enables communities to celebrate, look after and learn more about our diverse heritage. From museums and historic buildings to parks and nature reserves to celebrating traditions, customs and history, the HLF has awarded over £3 billion to projects that open up our nation's heritage for everyone to enjoy.

Foundation
Arts Council North East - grants are for individuals,
arts organisations and other people who use the arts in
their work. They are for arts-related activities that
benefit people in England or that help artists and arts
organisations in England to carry out their work. Your
project must take place mainly in England.
Trusts / Foundations (from County Durham Foundation - Lloyds TSB Trust)
County Durham Foundation County Durham Foundation gives grants to local good causes that make a real difference to people's quality of life in County Durham and Darlington. Individuals, families, local companies and public bodies make this possible by setting up funds with us. We fulfil their wishes by ensuring that the right projects that really need their support are chosen, with as much involvement from them in the decision making as they wish.
Northern
Rock Foundation Despite the difficulties of the
Northern Rock Bank in 2007, the foundation still has
grants to help disadvantaged groups in the North
East.
Coalfield Regeneration Trust A new funding programme
is expected to be announced in early 2008.
Esmee Fairbairn
Foundation This foundation plans a new approach to
grant-making from January 2008.
Sir James Knott Trust
For registered charities only, this trust aims to help
the conditions of people living and working in the North
East of England.
Barbour Charitable Trust
The Barbour Trust supports local projects dealing with a
variety of community issues including welfare, health,
homelessness and unemployment. Most grants are small
(£1000 or less), but occasionally larger grants are
awarded. Applications can be obtained by writing to PO
Box 21, Guisborough, Cleveland, TS14 8YH or to the
