Household waste - garden waste
In April 2002 Durham City was granted the opportunity to trial a green waste collection research scheme for 3,000 households in Sherburn and Coxhoe. This was at no extra cost to the public, thanks to the generosity of the County Durham Environmental Trust. Due to the continued success of this project we have been able to extend this green waste collection scheme to New Brancepeth, parts of Belmont and Carrville and Shincliffe.
Collections will be made on a Friday on a fortnightly basis.
Loose organic or green waste only must be put into the bin for example:
Grass, Leaves, Weeds, Hedge Trimmings, Vegetables, Smaller Branches, Flowers, Cuttings, Plants, Teabags, Eggshells. Cardboard,
Collections take place in March through to November 2008
A new collection in response to customer demand, please use your green bin for shrub/tree prunings and place your Christmas Tree next to your green bin:-
Saturday 5th January 2008 for Shincliffe, Belmont
Friday 16th January 2008 for Coxhoe, Sherburn, New Brancepeth
Collections will commence in March 2008
For properties in Coxhoe, Parts of Bowburn, Sherburn and New Brancepeth collections will commence on Friday 7th March, Saturday 22nd March, Friday 4th April, Friday 18th April 2008 and so on on a fortnightly basis.
For properties in Belmont and Shincliffe collections will commence on Friday 14th March, Saturday 29th March, Friday 11th April, Friday 25th April and so on on a fortnightly basis.
