Gender equality scheme

The Gender Equality Duty, which is part of the Equality Act 2006, requires us to produce a Gender Equality Scheme to show how we will:

Eliminate unlawful discrimination
Eliminate harassment
Promote equality of opportunity between men and women

Gender includes everyone and our Gender Equality Scheme is a scheme for women, men, girls and boys. It also specifically includes transgender people.

Our Gender Equality Scheme shows the steps we will take to positively promote gender equality and eliminate sex discrimination. If you would like to read the Scheme please click on the links below:-

Gender Equality Scheme Action Plan

We know that priorities and circumstances change and our Gender Equality Scheme is a living document, which means that we will regularly review it to ensure that it continues to be relevant to the needs of people who live, work or learn within County Durham and those who visit it.

If you would like to make any comments on our equalities and diversity work, share your views on our equality schemes or what you feel some of the main issues are, or if you have any questions please contact us.
