Community transport
Durham City Council currently operates a Community transport scheme to aid transport to leisure provision in the city.
The minibuses are available to Community Groups and
various agencies in Durham City to assist in transport
difficulties throughout the district.
The buses are currently used to transport young people to
sports clubs, youth clubs, trip to the leisure centres
and day trips during holiday periods. It is also used by
agencies such as Age Concern to take the elderly on
shopping trips and to transport them to their local
community centre for social evenings.
The Minibuses are available during weekdays and weekends,
daytime and evening and are based at the Durham City
Council offices at Dragonville Industrial Estate.
All users must provide their own driver that must be
MIDAS qualified. There is no charge for the hire of the
minibus but all fuel must be replaced at a cost of 50p
per mile.
