Planning appeals

Appeals can be made against the decision of the council to refuse permission or to impose conditions, or their delay in deciding your application. Appeal forms are available from the Planning Inspectorate, Customer Support Unit, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN, Tel 0117 372 6372, or visit their website by following the link at the bottom of this page.

Most appeals are dealt with by written representations but there is also the option to appear before an inspector at an informal hearing or Public Inquiry.

If you want to appeal against a decision, then you must do so within six months of the date of the notice. Information about making an appeal will also in included with your decision notice.

You may make your appeal via an online appeals service. This service can be found through the Appeals area of the Planning Portal, see the link below. The Inspectorate will publish details of your appeal on the internet. This may include a copy of the original planning application together with the completed appeal form and information you submit to the Planning Inspectorate. Only provide information, including personal information belonging to you, that you are happy to be made available to others in this way. If you supply personal information belonging to a third party please ensure you have their permission to do so.

Information will also be sent out together with any enforcement notice, or will be availalbe from the Local Planning Authority, contact details are at the base of this page. The Inspectorate links will also provide you with all the information you need.
