Freeman’s Quay joining celebration of childrens right to play
Thursday 31 July 2008
A ‘Playday’ event will take place at Freeman’s Quay, next Wednesday 6 August. Organised by City of Durham’s Leisure Services, activities on offer include swimming, dance, football, cricket and much more. Although fully inclusive, children and young people up to the age of 25 who are disabled are particularly encouraged to attend to take advantage of the new facilities.
'Playday', supported by Persil, is the annual celebration of children's right to play. The national campaign involves thousands of children and young people getting out to play at locally organised events.
Jill Wood, leisure development officer for young people said: "Freeman's Quay has a range of accessible facilities that make it easier to access our physical activity programme. It's just the venue for those children who might have difficulty accessing play."
The event takes place from 10am - 3pm and there's no need to book.
