Have your say on County Durham’s future

Wednesday 9th July 2008

The County Durham Partnership is consulting on County Durham’s new Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS). The SCS sets the long-term vision for the future of County Durham; it describes what we want the county to be like in 2023 and the types of things we will do to make this happen. The SCS is mainly focused the county’s residents, but also looks at how we can improve the county for people who come here to work, study, visit and invest.

We've looked at lots of evidence and information including areas where we can improve our own performance and the views of local residents to identify the issues we want to tackle in County Durham. The partnership wants to ensure that the county's resources are used where they are needed most, and focused on the things that matter most to local people.Susan Johnson, Chair of County Durham Partnership and Chief Executive of Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: "We've looked at a wide range of national and local evidence to identify the challenges in the county but to make a real difference we need to know what the local organisations, businesses, partnerships and people of County Durham think."

If you'd like to get involved you can find everything you need on the County Durham Partnership website at www.durhamlaa.org.uk.

We'd also be interested to hear of any projects/initiatives you're involved in, at work or home, that will be supporting the improvements we want to make.

The consultation runs from Monday, July 7 until Tuesday, September 30.
