Wait to Join New Flagship Leisure Complex Over
Tuesday 29 April 2008
With only weeks to go before the doors of Freeman’s Quay open to the public the wait to be a member of the state of the art fitness centre and leisure complex is over. The lifestyle fitness centre, which will be council run, will house 130 pieces of the latest equipment and you can join now on-line.
Fitness expert Competition Line is funding the gym set up to the tune of £2m. The spacious facility has a cardio vascular suite offering the very latest cycles, cross-trainers and treadmills, while the beginner's corner will cater for those just starting out on their fitness road.
Much of the £500,000 worth of equipment has full disabled access and there is even a rehabilitation suite for those recovering from injury. What's more fully trained City of Durham staff will be on hand to offer help and advice.
Membership packages start from a single silver at just £6.23 a week or a gold single membership for £35 a month, this includes swimming and some exercise classes. What's more if you join on line before the July opening you'll get a welcome pack from Lifestyle Fitness worth £50, and are guaranteed no price rises for a year.
The Freeman's Quay Lifestyle Fitness membership manager is Diane Carr and she admits she can't wait to get started on site in Durham, 'I am really looking forward to working in the new Freeman's Quay Club. I think it is a fantastic opportunity for the community and Durham City itself, offering a high standard of facilities at affordable prices.'
So don't delay log on now at www.lifestylefitness.co.uk and follow the links to Freeman's Quay gym.
Note to Editors: Freeman's Quay remains on budget and on time it is due to open in July. This development is not a private finance initiative. It is being provided by the Durham Villages Regeneration Company, a partnership between the City Council and Keepmoat plc. The fitness centre has also been built in partnership with an investment of £2.1m from Competition Line. It will be operated by the Council for the council.
