First phase earmarked for regeneration in Esh Winning
Wednesday 16 April 2008
Of the 3 local masterplans agreed at Cabinet in October, Esh Winning is the first off the starting block with a phase one development opportunity proposed for The Oaks, Rowan Court and Pine Trees that was discussed at Cabinet on Wednesday (16 April) this week.
Although full details of the regeneration scheme are still to be developed, the Council is committed to making sure those local residents who may be affected if the scheme progresses are appropriately re-housed.
Portfolio Holder for Community, Cllr Les Thomson said
today,
"I would like to reassure the local residents that we are
in the very early stages of considering proposals that
will be subject to consultation, but in the meantime we
want to start one-to-one discussions to identify their
individual housing needs.
"We have written to all the residents and if the report is agreed at Cabinet, we will be contacting everyone again for further discussions."
The area detailed in the report includes 67 tenanted
households, 7 owner occupiers and there are 4
voids.
Cllr Thomson again,
"Community consultation played a really important role in
the development of the masterplan for Esh Winning and
local councillors and residents were very keen to move
forward with a phased approach to the regeneration early
in the new financial year. "
