Mayor meets up with budding entrepreneurs
Friday 4 April 2008
The Mayor of the City of Durham Cllr Bob Wynn, met up with some of the students in the City’s Future Business Magnates competition as they researched their next project.
The Durham Federation team hit the Market Place in the City to gather information for their advertising challenge of the project and bumped into the Mayor who gave them a tour of the newly refurbished Town Hall.
Lynda Dixon, teacher from the Durham Federation was very pleased with the way the students reacted to the day:
"The level of enthusiasm from all concerned never ceases to amaze me and when you see what these 12 and 13 year olds can achieve - it is stunning! The time with the Mayor has topped off a great day for the group and it is a day they will not forget in a hurry".
The team were keeping their project "under wraps" but revealed that they will be making soap from a local source and will be looking to make the packaging from re-cycled paper from the school.
All teams are now, despite the looming school break, well into their next challenge - Advertise and Flog it! Which should be complete by the end of April.
