Charity Swimathon
The event promises to be a great family weekend and is anticipated to attract significant media attention.
All sponsorship monies received will be shared among the following charities:
- Treetops Children's Ward (University Hospital, Durham).
- St Cuthbert's Hospice.
- Mayor of Durham's Charity (The County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted).
- Charities named by the participating teams.
It is expected the Swimathon will be opened by Steve Cram, who will welcome participating team support
for his own Charity, COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas) which provides educational projects to
improve the life chances of children and reduce infant mortality in developing countries.
You are invited to make up a team of between four and six swimmers of qualifying age, from in and
around Durham, who will swim as many lengths of the new pool as they can in 30 minutes while raising
money for these very worthwhile charities.
