Premiership Club brings Elite Soccer Training Clinic to Meadowfield

Sunderland AFC Soccer coaches have set up a specialist 'by invitation only' football clinic for talented Durham youngsters. The sessions at Meadowfield Leisure Centre aim to identify real hopefuls who will enjoy the same standard of coaching as youngsters at the premiership club's own Academy.

Coaches visit schools in and around Durham and if they spot a pupil with potential star quality they are invited to the clinic. Sunderland AFC's Jamie Wright thinks it's great, "The partnership we have with Meadowfield enables young people in Durham to access high quality coaching delivered by qualified Sunderland Football Club coaches and means as a premiership club we get to spot and nurture potential talent at an early stage."

Players who excel at the Meadowfield Soccer Clinic can then progress into Sunderland AFC's Development Centre or Academy sites.

Meadowfield Leisure Centre Manager Mark Lee believes the coaching opens up a whole world of opportunity, "We can now offer a natural route of progression to those who wish to go further in the game. We are quite literally bringing the premiership to you!"

But don't worry if you can't bend it like Beckham SAFC hosts after school coaching for children of all abilities from 4-12 years at both Meadowfield and Sherburn for just £1.80 a session.
