Housing/Council Tax Benefit Service
The City of Durham's Benefit Service is responsible for the administration and payment of Housing Benefit for Local Authority and private landlord tenants, and Council Tax Benefit.
Housing Benefit is a means tested benefit designed to help people on a low income pay their rent.
Council Tax Benefit aims to help council tax payers on a low income reduce their council tax bill.
City of Durham aim to :-
- Provide a service that pays benefit correctly on time, first time, every time.
- Pay benefit within 14 days of receiving all the information needed for your claim
- Reply to all letters within 10 working days.
- Prevent fraud and error from entering the housing and council tax benefit system.
